On November 13th, Netflix is releasing With Bob And David, a sketch comedy show by Bob Odenkirk and David Cross that is meant to be a reunion of sorts of the Mr. Show With Bob And David cast. If you’ve never watched Mr. Show, clear your weekly watching schedule and pull it up. Back in the mid 90s, it was America’s Monty Python.
I’m going to watch this new show, With Bob And David, not because Netflix is clearly playing the nostalgia angle to get viewers, but because I think Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are incredible comedic actors. How do I know this is true? The one clip for the show they released a couple weeks ago is kinda shitty. It’s almost shitty enough to make me skip the show altogether. But, if you’ve ever seen Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Arrested Development, and Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Back, then you know why I believe in these two guys ability to make incredible comedy—not in Netflix’s ability to revive a show that nobody watched when it was on the air and who’s time has passed.
